A beam topping off ceremony was held Thursday, January 3rd at 2pm marking the symbolic completion of the structural phase of construction by erecting the final beam. The beam has been painted wildcat gold and signed by VCS staff, students, and Valdosta City community members. In attendance were Valdosta City officials, VCS Board members, the VMS STEM Advisory Committee, representatives from Langdale Industries, the Altman and Barrett architecture firm, and S.C. Barker Construction Company. VCS Superintendent, Dr. Todd Cason; VCS Facilities Director, Kaci Nobles; and VMS Principal, Beth DeLoach, all spoke at the ceremony. VMS looks forward to having the building in operation for the 2019-2020 school year as they continue developing STEM opportunities for all students.
